URBAN DESIGN

The National Building Agency has been at the forefront of urban design in Ireland since the 1980's when preparing urban design framework plans for urban renewal tax designated sites in towns and cities through out the country.

Multidisciplinary

In recent years the range of urban design projects has included:

We have recently completed a number of urban design studies for incorporation into statutory local area plans. These urban design studies provide a distinctive approach that includes:

  • An urban design appraisal of the existing village/town context.
  • General Design Guidance
  • Site Development Briefs, and
  • Masterplans of zoned lands.

The National Building Agency also offers a specialist 'design review service' to our Local Authority clients. Individual planning applications can be independently reviewed from an urban design perspective, offering skilled, expert advice which may be required within some Town Councils and County Councils.

The Planning and Urban Design Section includes professionally qualified planners, urban designers, architects, and a graphic designer.
